In October 2016, Orange County opened the Courtyard, a round-the-clock transitional center with emergency shelter beds and enhanced services for homeless neighbors congregated in the Orange County Civic Center and surrounding regions.
Located at the former Santa Ana Transit Terminal, the Courtyard is operated by The Midnight Mission and City Net, and provides shelter for up to 400 homeless neighbors each night. Homeless guests can access emergency shelter, meals, hot showers, laundry services, and property storage in a safe environment where supportive services and housing linkages are available as part of the broader solution to end an individual’s homelessness.
City Net is directly responsible for coordinating all meal services at the Courtyard, with more than 6,500 meals each week prepared, delivered and served by local faith congregations and volunteer groups. City Net also coordinates all supportive services onsite, with more than a dozen county and nonprofit organizations visiting weekly to provide services in areas such as healthcare, mental health, addiction recovery, housing navigation, veterans’ services, elder care, and access to government benefits. More than 100 homeless neighbors have graduated to housing options since the opening of the Courtyard.
